In 2018, Law firms increasingly targeted in Cyber Attacks
Overview
Barkly reports that hackers are stepping up cyber-attacks on law firms. "According to a CNA Professional Counsel bulletin, roughly 80
percent of the largest law firms in the United States have experienced a malicious breach." Hackers have realized that law
firms have confidential data, they have money, and they are not prepared. The law firm Moses Afonso Ryan was recently hit with a
crypto-locker attack that resulted in them having to pay $25K ransom only to realize that they still couldn't unlock their files.
They estimate their losses at upwards of $700,000. As a result of this and other high profile attacks, clients are increasingly requiring
their legal counsel to obtain security practice audits.
